Applying for legal aid
Legal aidfor whom? If your financial resources are insufficient for your case to be heard by a French court, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the State, known as "legal aid". Your legal costs will then be paid in full or in part by the State.
How do you go about it?
Before making the request, you can use the simulator to find out whether you are eligible for legal aid.
Documents to be provided :
- Legal aid application form - Cerfa 16146*03
- Proof of identity
- Proof of income
- Proof of assets
- Proof of legal expenses insurance if I have one
- Proof of legal representation if I have already used the services of a legal representative
- Certificate if the insurer does not cover the costs
- Certificate of non-insurance cover (This certificate must be completed by yourself and your insurer if the latter does not cover the costs of the trial)
