Banks of the Thérain

The River Thérain runs through Montataire. Its banks, which have been completely redeveloped, offer footpaths and a cycle path leading from the Forges roundabout to the Prieuré urban park.

The Syndicat des Intercommunalités de la Vallée du Thérain (SIVT) maintains the riverbanks and runs educational initiatives in the classroom and during Sustainable Development Week. In 2024, it also restored wetlands, the habitat of many batrachians, in the forest of the Parc du Prieuré. The Martins-Pêcheurs association also organises an annual clean-up operation.
