Practical information

Priory urban park

The Parc urbain du Prieuré is a cool, green space covering more than 30 hectares. Visitors can walk up to two kilometres around the park in a single lap, thanks to pedestrian walkways along the banks of two ponds. To get there, walk along the River Thérain, on the route du moulin de Saint-Leu, opposite the Leclerc petrol station.

Accessible to people with motor, mental and hearing disabilities, this peaceful spot is also popular with families, sports enthusiasts and anglers.

"Le Prieuré gives you the feeling of being out of town, in the middle of the countryside".

The apiary

A few years ago, the town of Montataire decided to create its own apiary in response to the threat to insects, particularly bees.

Around ten beehives have been installed at the entrance to the Prieuré urban park, along with transparent windows and a permanent educational exhibition to raise public awareness of the importance of beekeeping. Visits are organised from time to time, particularly during Sustainable Development Week, to teach schoolchildren about the importance of bees in the ecosystem.

Trained green space workers are responsible for monitoring and maintaining the hives, including harvesting. They are assisted by a local professional beekeeper from the Pommabeille company. Honey is now regularly harvested and distributed at municipal events such as Taste Week, Sustainable Development Week, the staff meal and the pensioners' meal.

To visit the apiary, go to the Parc urbain du Prieuré, on the route du moulin de Saint-Leu. The hives are located along the fence, near the technical services.
