Town planning - Planning permission (ADS)
Planning permission (PA)
Planning permission is a planning authorisation issued by the local council. It allows the council to control the development of a housing estate, campsite, parking area or sports or leisure ground.
First of all, you need to find out from your local council whether your project is located in a protected area, i.e. in the vicinity of outstanding heritage sites, historic monuments, listed sites, nature reserves, etc. Please refer to the "Monuments historiques" tab, as the rules may differ in this case.
Check whether the work requires planning permission:
- Construction of a new housing estate
- Residential leisure park
- Parking areas and family rental sites for Travellers
- Scouring / raising the ground
- Stripping

What do I do once my permit has been granted?
Make your site opening declaration (DOC), which must be sent to the Town Hall BEFORE STARTING ANY WORK !
ATTENTION
Within 2 months of the date of the decision, you must post it so that it is visible from the outside for the duration of the worksite, so that local residents can read it and challenge the authorisation.
Good to know
From the date of receipt of your licence, you have 3 years to start the work. If you have already started work but the interruption exceeds 1 year, the permit is deemed to have expired.
However, this period can be extended twice for 1 year. You must apply for an extension at least 2 months before your permit expires. This request for an extension must be made on plain paper, in duplicate, by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, or delivered to the Town Hall.
Deadlines
The processing time is 3 months from filing date and 4 months if the Architecte des Bâtiments de France is consulted.
