Registering a death in Montataire
It is compulsory to register a death at the town hall. In the case of a death in hospital or a retirement home, it is up to the institution to take care of this. The rules are different for deaths at home or on the public highway.

How do you go about it?
Go to the Registrar's Office to register the death.
Documents to be provided :
- Your identity document
- If possible, the death certificate issued by the doctor, police station or gendarmerie
- Any document concerning the identity of the deceased (family record book, identity card or birth certificate, for example)
Once the death has been declared, the town hall will issue a death certificate.
