6h swim
Since 1995, the Aquatic Club Intercommunal de Montataire (ACIM) has organised a charity event in aid of the Société Nationale du Sauvetage en Mer (SNSM). This year, the "6h de natation" will take place on Sunday 16 March.
Both beginners and experienced swimmers can take part. Each participation is a donation to the rescue association. ACIM also donates €1 for every kilometre swum.
A challenge that lasts

Stopped for a while, the action was relaunched: "It was an event that was supported by a lifeguard from the club who has now passed away. It was also a symbolic moment. We reinstated it to pay tribute to him.
She adds: "Last year we had a majority of swimmers who swam for 2 to 3 hours. There was even a group of four who swam for 6 hours. But you still need to be well prepared physically and have something to eat and drink during that time. Curious onlookers are also there to share in the friendly atmosphere..
The club continues to restructure
In February, the club organised aquatic fluency courses for 4 to 6 year-olds and "safe swimming" courses for 6 to 12 year-olds as part of the drowning prevention campaign. ACIM will be repeating the scheme during the forthcoming April and July holidays.
