Do you know Anne Lister, Joséphine Pencalet, Louise Chatelain? Did you know that Nubia was home to a matriarchal civilisation as rich and flourishing as the Egyptians? Or that the largest pirate fleet in the world was led by a woman? In a one-woman show, Zoé Grossot unearths portraits of women with extraordinary destinies who have been erased from our history. But beyond these forgotten historical figures, there are also all those whose names will never be known, all those who will remain in the shadows, barely noticed. Using paper silhouettes, Zoé Grossot and Lou Simon, co-creators of the show, sketch out another reality, ignored by our collective imaginations, and suggest other models and other representations outside the gender stereotypes. It's a journey across continents and eras that gives pride of place to women, their diversity, their exceptional but also dramatic destinies, their daily lives, their struggles and their strength. It's a collective celebration to which she invites the audience to join in, with kindness and humour.
As part of International Women's Rights Day on 8 March.
