Inauguration of the Book Festival

La Book festival can be written as from Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 June 2026 to celebrate reading in all its forms!

Here's the programme of festivities for you to enjoy, whether you're an avid reader, a curious youngster or a lover of good stories.

Programme for Wednesday 10 June

Elsa Triolet Library

10h : BB-thèque dedicated to the children's authors taking part in the Fête du livre on Saturday 13 June at the château (0-5 years)

2pm to 5pm: (All audiences)
Pop bookbinding workshop with artist Marine Laroche participants will be able to take home a book object created during the workshop, using the arts and crafts techniques taught by the workshop leader
Creative Workshop and Writing Workshop supported by the Public Reading and Archives Department team

16h30 : Afternoon tea offered

18h : Street theatre with «L'histoire des Trois Mousquetaires racontée à deux et en une demi-heure» by Compagnie Au fond à gauche (All audiences)

18h30 : Competition prize-giving ceremony «I write with chalk...», opening speech and cocktail

I write with chalk...« competition»

Enter the competition «I write with chalk...» and give free rein to your creativity on the pavements of Montataire! Chalk, Write down your favourite quote, a poetic phrase, or (for children) draw an ephemeral work that will embellish our streets.

Libraries lend chalk to help you create your own creations.

Try to win the honour of seeing your work become the new library bookmark and vouchers to the «Le Verbe à l'Objet" bookshop ".

• Productions should be returned to the library.
• Drawings must be submitted no later than Wednesday 13 June.
