Commemoration - Liberation of the camps
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the campsThe town of Montataire, in conjunction with patriotic associations, is organising a commemoration ceremony open to all.
The commemoration pays tribute to those deported and imprisoned in Nazi concentration and extermination camps during the Second World War. It commemorates their liberation by the Allied armies in 1945.
The aim of the day is to :
- Remembering the suffering endured by millions of victims, often arrested for their ideas, origin, religion or commitment to the Resistance.
- Honouring memory of the missing and the survivors.
- Passing on the story to younger generations to fight against oblivion, intolerance, racism and anti-Semitism.
La National Day of Remembrance for Victims of the Deportationcelebrated each year on last Sunday in Aprilis an opportunity for citizens, associations and institutions to rally around these values of remembrance and peace.
Morning programme :
10h30 :
- Rally in front of Edmond Léveillé school
- Parade to the Monument aux Morts (Place de la mairie)
- Laying of wreaths, minute's silence, speeches, La Marseillaise
11h00 :
- Resumption of the parade to the Monument des Déportés (rue des Déportés)
- Chant des Partisans, laying of wreaths, minute's silence
The ceremony will conclude with a convivial moment over an aperitif. wine reception offered to the Maurice Mignon independent residence (R.P.A.).
