Commemoration - End of the First World War

On the occasion of the 107e anniversary of the end of the First World WarThe town of Montataire, in conjunction with patriotic associations, is organising a commemoration ceremony open to all.

On 11 November 1918, the bugles sounded the ceasefire, bringing to an end four years of devastating conflict. More than 1.4 million French soldiers lost their lives. Every year since then, France has paid tribute not only to those who fought in the Great War, but also to all the victims of conflicts past and present.

Morning programme :

10am - Torchlight ceremony :

  • Gathering at the cemetery
  • Lighting the flame
  • Laying of wreaths, minute's silence, La Marseillaise

10h30 :

  • Rally in front of Edmond Léveillé school
  • Parade to the Monument aux Morts (Place de la mairie)
  • Laying of wreaths, speeches, minute's silence, La Marseillaise
  • Choir from Anatole France secondary school and Maurice and Lucie Bambier and Paul Langevin schools, including Splinters in the clouds by Barbara Pravi and The Ypres bouqueta poilus song to the tune of Cherry season.

The ceremony will conclude with a convivial moment over an aperitif. wine reception offered to basement B.
