Book festival

La Book festival can be written as from Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 June 2026 to celebrate reading in all its forms!

Here's the programme of festivities for you to enjoy, whether you're an avid reader, a curious youngster or a lover of good stories.

Programme for Saturday 13 June

Château de Montataire

1.30 pm to 6 pm :

• Book signings and sales in the presence of guest authors
• Sale of second-hand books by the bookshop Seeds of words
• Presence of the Hauts-de-France publishers' association
• Balloon sculpture and face painting workshop
• Exhibition stand and calligraphy workshop
• Workshop by the illustrator Laura Lion
• Manga workshop with Montatairi artist Amine Berhila
• Screen printing workshop with the’Fwells workshop
• Stand Espace Huberte d'Hoker
• Street theatre with Poetic commando blowers

16h : Family tea party

Cour d'honneur du Château

15h : Conference from Brahim Metiba around work on exile, family, sexuality, difference...

18h : Closing drink and speeches

I write with chalk...« competition»

Enter the competition «I write with chalk...» and give free rein to your creativity on the pavements of Montataire! Chalk, Write down your favourite quote, a poetic phrase, or (for children) draw an ephemeral work that will embellish our streets.

Libraries lend chalk to help you create your own creations.

Try to win the honour of seeing your work become the new library bookmark and vouchers to the «Le Verbe à l'Objet" bookshop ".

Terms and conditions :

• The competition is open to everyone.
• Productions should be returned to the library.
• Drawings must be submitted no later than Wednesday 13 June.

The allée des Marronniers is a one-way street in the downhill direction, Access by car to the château will be via avenue Anatole France only.

For the parkingThe car parks at the Pierre Legrand leisure centre, the collegiate church and the cemeteries are available.
