Opening of the exhibition dedicated to Maurice Mignon

Born in 1911, Maurice Mignon led the Creillois Basin resistance network during the Second World War and was subsequently elected deputy mayor of Montataire on several occasions. A key figure in local history and politics, an exhibition will be dedicated to him.

This exhibition will be on display both in the Place Auguste Génie and at the independent residence, named after Maurice Mignon.

The outdoor part of the exhibition will feature archive images representing the daily life and struggles of Maurice Mignon and the local resistance. At the residence, it will be possible to see objects and screens showing animated photos from the period. The two parts of the exhibition are complementary, and the one at the residence is accessible during its opening hours.

The exhibition will open on Friday 5 June at 4.45pm in the presence of several local primary school classes. The pupils have prepared readings for the occasion, which will be presented to the public at the inauguration.

2026 will mark the fortieth anniversary of Maurice Mignon's death on 4 July 1986 in Creil.
