Heritage Days

For the European Heritage Daysthe City of Montataire and the remembrance and heritage associations are joining forces to bring you a rich and varied programme.

The theme of the 2025 edition will be :
"Tell me about a castle... from the Middle Ages to the present day!

Castles, witnesses to the past, continue to arouse our curiosity and feed our collective history. Over the weekend, the Château de Montatairethe Collegiate church of Notre-Dame and the Petit Château Khardys will be opening their doors to help you discover how history has met modern times, through places, people and traditions.

Weekend programme

Visits to Château de Montataire

Immerse yourself in history by visiting :

  • the library
  • the weapons room
  • the guard room
  • the stable

Exhibitions and events at the Collégiale Notre-Dame

  • Exhibition of stained glass windows in the abbey church of Saint-Leu d'Esserent
  • Draw me a castle" exhibition with children's drawings and public vote
  • Fashion from the Middle Ages to the present day
  • Workshops for all:
    • manufacture of stained glass (paper) and mosaics
    • historic recipes
    • calligraphy and illumination
    • introduction to fencing and archery

Complementary discoveries

Visits to the Petit Château Khardys and Barn (Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 4pm).

Musical closing at 4.30pm

A concert byAMEM will conclude these two days at the Collégiale.

  • Discovery game passports available
  • Reading sessions for younger children in the guards' room (with books available for family time throughout the weekend).

These European Heritage Days are organised by by the town of Montataire and local remembrance and heritage associations.
It's a unique opportunity for families to share, learn and rediscover together the richness of our history.
