On the occasion of the 81e<\/sup> anniversary of the surrender of Nazi Germany<\/strong>, The town of Montataire, in conjunction with patriotic associations, is organising a commemoration ceremony open to all. 8 May 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The surrender of Nazi Germany marked the end of the Second World War in Europe. It took place in two stages, on 7 and 8 May 1945. On 7 May, representatives of the German army signed an act of surrender in Reims, France, in the headquarters of General Eisenhower, commander of the Allied forces. This document put an end to the fighting on the Western Front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the Soviet Union requested a second official ceremony. This was held on 8 May in Berlin, in the presence of Allied and Soviet forces. At this ceremony, the capitulation was signed again, this time in front of the military representatives of all the major Allied powers. Because of the time difference, the official end of the war is celebrated on 8 May in Europe, but on 9 May in Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The ceremony will conclude with a convivial moment over an aperitif. wine reception<\/strong> offered to basement B<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
