Support for recognition of the Palestinian state

The city is decked out in the flags of France, the United Nations and Palestine, in support of recognition of the Palestinian state.

Visit On 22 September, the French President announced this recognition at the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York. The decision is aimed at relaunching a "two-state" solution: an Israeli state and a Palestinian state.

To date, 148 of the 193 UN member states have already recognised the Palestinian state, as decided by the UN in 1948.

This is not the case in the United States.

Belgium, Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada have already indicated their willingness to take part in the process of recognising the State of Palestine.

For our town, which has been twinned with the Dheisheh refugee camp since 1989, this recognition of the Palestinian state is also a decision of justice for the Palestinian people, who have been deprived of a state for 80 years.
