Montataire on an official visit to Finsterwalde
In early December, a delegation from Montataire comprising elected officials, representatives of the’EFA twinning association and municipal directors visited Finsterwalde, Germany. This trip was part of the partnership that has united our two municipalities for several decades.
The Louis Schiller Medal: a highlight of local German life
The trip began with attendance at the Louis Schiller medal ceremony, an award given each year to residents who are particularly involved in the social, civic or community life of Finsterwalde.
This ceremony, which is very popular with the local population, offers a unique insight into community engagement and reflects the values shared by our two cities.
A cultural programme in Berlin
The visit continued with a day in Berlin, during which participants were able to:
- discover the capital on a guided tour,
- share a convivial moment over lunch at Alexanderplatz,
- attend a theatre performance and visit the famous Friedrichstadt-Palast, an iconic venue on the Berlin cultural scene.
A twinning that is still alive and well
Like the meetings that have long marked the partnership between our two cities, this visit demonstrates a shared commitment to peace, openness and understanding between peoples. Montataire and Finsterwalde will continue this constructive dynamic together, in the service of a lasting twinning arrangement.
