For municipal elections, remember to check the electoral roll
The next French municipal elections will take place on 15 and 22 March 2026. Voting is a right but also a duty of citizens, and in order to be able to vote, it is necessary to register on the electoral roll of your municipality once you reach the age of majority. This procedure is free of charge and can be done online or at the town hall. If you are a French national, you will be asked to provide proof of identity and proof of address, in addition to a form requesting registration on the electoral roll for French citizens. If you are a national of another European Union country, you must provide the same documents as well as a declaration regarding your electoral status. To be able to vote in the upcoming municipal elections, you have until 4 February 2026 to register online, and until 6 February 2026 to do so at the town hall.
